Alright, let's get started. The very first verse that I am going to put on here is from BibleGateway.com, from their verse of the day section.
“Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one. Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.”- Deuteronomy 6:4-5 (New International Version)
This is probably a verse that we have all seen or read before, so it's easy to overlook. I tend to not pay attention to the things that I associate with the most, like taking small things for granted. When you really look at this verse, and really think about it, it is a real challenge to us. How often do we go into worship and don't commit all the way? How many times do we go through the steps of talking to God without really pouring out our hearts to Him? I will admit that I do this a lot. Sometimes I'm afraid of pursuing God with my whole heart because I'm afraid of change and where God may take me. I believe that as Christians we are always growing, and trying to the best of our ability to love God with all our hearts, souls, and strength. It's definitely not easy, and definitely not done in a day.
Nice take on this verse. I tend to skip over the second part of this verse and focus on the simple yet awesome statement of God up front: "The LORD our God, the LORD is one." Or, as some would have it: "Yahweh is our God, and he alone is the only God." Strong! Interesting, now that I think of it, the first part talks about God being one, and then the second part talks about us being one (all) in our love of him. Cool.
